What If I Have Duplicate Names In My Uploaded List(s)
Duplicates
DeDupe - Remove Duplicates
We review your mailing list file for duplicate names and or matching addresses that can occur with various scenarios. This will also take place if you are uploading multiple list and we are combining all for a single campaign.
We use a great many “data scripts” Friends and Family Script is one of the most common, as we see various types of name and address configurations. This is a very advance method of not just removing duplicates, however analyzing multiple records with certain similar characteristics – then merging and identifying those that match.
- A common approach is when the name and the address are a match, we remove/delete the duplicate(s).
Wendy Smith 15 Maple St
Wendy Smith 15 Maple St
More specifically we will remove the names that appeared first. Example Record # 6 and Record #174 are the same we will delete record #6. Thus the latest record survives
- If there are two different records/names, going to one same address, example below
Bob Smith 15 Maple St
Wendy Smith 15 Maple St
We can Merge the two names to a single record and then Remove the original 2
>Bob & Wendy Smith 15 Maple St
- If there are two different records/names Bob Smith and Wendy Jones going to the same address we can merge as well keeping the 2 names but Merging into one record.
Bob Smith 15 Maple St Wendy Jones 15 Maple ST
>Bob Smith & Wendy Jones 15 Maple St
or may appear as 2 lines
Bob Smith Wendy Jones 15 Maple St
- If there are multiple different records/names that share the same last name
Bob Jones and Wendy Jones, Tom Jones going to the same address we can merge all into to single recorded as BoB, Wendy & Tom Jones 15 Maple St
Bob Smith 15 Maple St Wendy Jones 15 Maple ST
Bob Smith & Wendy Jones 15 Maple St
- If there are multiple different records/names that do not share the same last name
